In June this year I took part in a 4 day yoga seminar, learning more about Shatkarmas, the salt water cleansing techniques, used to purify the insides of the body, reducing toxins and increasing energy level significantly.
The seminar was held in the mountains of Lebanon by two beautiful people who has been my teachers since my first time in the yoga ashram in India 12 years ago, Swami Omgyanam and Swami Mudraroopa.
They also gave an interesting seminar in Beirut about yoga and sleep disturbance.
In a society like today, which hardly ever takes a rest, with constant humming and buzzing from electrical devises - fridges, lights, hot water tanks, cars in the city with a non-stop light pollution, a never ending stream of information to relate to and so on, there is not a wonder that many people suffer from difficulties resting and sleeping. And, if we do sleep it is not a deeply refreshing sleep and many people wake up in the morning feeling like they hardly rested at all.
What is the reason so many people have sleep disturbance, what is the prerequisite for sound and healthy sleep and what tools may yoga offer to help in the process?
